Trimbakeshwar: The Crown Jewel of Nashik! The Only Jyotirlinga Where Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva Reside.

Trimbakeshwar: A Unique Pilgrimage Site Among the 12 Jyotirlingas

Trimbakeshwar, situated in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, is one of the twelve divine Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The most prominent and unique feature of this temple is that the lingam here embodies the three great deities: Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva (Mahesh). This is why the temple is known as 'Tryambaka' (one with three eyes).

History and Architecture of the Temple

Construction: The current structure of the temple was built in the 18th century by the Maratha Peshwa Nana Saheb Peshwa using exquisite black stone.

Architecture: The temple is a brilliant example of the Hemadpanthi architectural style, known for its intricate carvings. The walls are adorned with beautiful sculptures depicting various gods and goddesses.

The Sacred Lingam: The Jyotirlinga is situated below the ground level, and water constantly seeps into it. The erosion of the lingam, due to the continuous flow of water, is believed to symbolise the eroding nature of human society.
