Bhimashankar: Where Spirituality Meets Nature 🏞️

Located deep within the Bhima Shankar Wildlife Sanctuary in the lush green Sahyadri mountain range, Bhimashankar is a revered Hindu shrine. It is famously known as the sixth of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. What sets Bhimashankar apart is its combination of intense spiritual significance and breathtaking natural beauty. It's a perfect getaway for both pilgrims and nature lovers.

 Temple Legend and Architecture

Legend: According to the Shiva Purana, this is the spot where Lord Shiva took the fierce form of Tripurari to defeat the demon Bhima, son of Kumbhakarna, who was causing destruction in the region. After the battle, Lord Shiva took residence here in the form of the Jyotirlinga.

Architecture: The temple is built in the Nagara style of architecture, with influences from the Maratha era. The main structure is carved out of black stone and features delicate sculptures and carvings, showcasing the craftsmanship of the past.

Unique Feature: The temple is the source of the Bhima River, which flows southeast and eventually merges with the Krishna River.
